James Taylor and Carole King – I wasn’t going to miss an invitation to see them live at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
I am sure the person next to me wished I had missed it, especially when I thought I was in my very own private karaoke room and belted out every tune, complete with the finger clicks, loud claps and unrhythmic dancing (and I’m not talking on the inside).
There is nothing like the support of a 12 000 strong audience to stir up a pretty amazing rendition of all your favourite James and Carole tunes.

But it was the slow crawl out of the carpark, iPhone recording cranked as loud as it could go and my very own private version of ‘You’ve got a friend’ that made it all worthwhile.
I didn’t need to be able to hold a tune. Nor a helping hand. I just needed the window down, the ability to open arms wide, a deaf friend and some soothers for the scratchy throat.
All you got to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah
Adrian – I’m so lucky that I know I can call your name out loud
You’ve got a friend.
you bloody ripper!
